At EICMA 2024, Lambretta celebrated the 60th anniversary of its historic J model with the launch of the J Starwave special edition, a tribute that combines tradition and current style. The Lambretta J, also known as the “Junior”, remains faithful to the original 1964 philosophy, with a lightweight design (135 kg) and compact dimensions, designed to appeal to a young audience. The J Starwave, in particular, stands out for its inspiration from beach culture and the world of surfing, reflecting a relaxed and fun aesthetic.
Among the exclusive design elements is a piece mounted on the front shield that refers to a surfboard, giving it a modern and customizable touch. At the event, the brand also presented a series of customization kits that included front stripes and mudguards, allowing owners to adapt the scooter to their liking. The model preserves the elongated lines and rectangular side panels that marked Lambretta in past decades, as well as a “long and low” silhouette inspired by the American style. The Italian identity is also evident in the iconic hexagonal headlight and the minimalist seat, designed to highlight the brand’s classic elegance.
The J range includes two engine options, both four-stroke and liquid-cooled, designed to combine efficiency and performance. The J125 model comes with a 124.6 cc engine that offers 12.2 hp of power and a torque of 11.5 Nm, ideal for agile urban driving. The J200 model, with a 174.5 cc engine, increases power to 17 hp and torque to 15.5 Nm, providing a more robust experience for those looking for more versatility.
The Lambretta J Starwave will be available from June 2025, carrying on the legacy of a model that has marked generations. With a fusion of classic spirit and contemporary innovation, the new J Starwave promises to appeal to both Lambretta nostalgics and a new generation of enthusiasts.
