Maverick Viñales had a complicated weekend at the Americas GP, finishing in 14th place. Despite the problems, he highlights a good pace and the need to continue evolving.
‘Wow, what a race. It’s all good. I mean, these are things that can happen during a weekend. At least I felt a good pace, although I believe we still have things to improve on the bike, especially regarding vibration. But it was good. I felt good and fast. So, we’ll wait for the opportunity, of course,’ the Spanish rider told the press in his first reaction to the race.
The Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider revealed that he faced unexpected problems during the race: ‘I don’t know what happened. The bike stopped twice. It stopped, I put the mode back on, and it stopped again. In the first few laps, I was very slow, obviously, because I didn’t know what was happening.’
When he managed to recover his pace, Viñales felt competitive: ‘Then I started pushing, and the pace was good. Low three, high two. I think it was quite acceptable.’
Despite the setbacks, Viñales prefers to look ahead: ‘Nothing special to mention. Just move on to the next one and keep improving.’
