Kevin Zannoni clinched victory in the second race of the Italian MotoE Grand Prix this Saturday. It’s the second consecutive win for the Italian, further solidifying his championship lead.
It’s worth noting that the first race, interrupted after Lukas Tulovic’s (Dynavolt Intact GP) crash this morning, will resume at 5:40 PM (Portugal Continental time).
Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) had a good start, but Zannoni (Openbank Aspar) did even better to take the lead heading into the first corner.
Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) settled into second and attempted to attack the leader at the start of the second lap, but without success. Zaccone was in third but was overtaken by his teammate Nicholas Spinelli, who had previously passed Eric Granado (LCR E-Team).
At the front, Zannoni and Casadei managed to pull away from their rivals, but the battle for third place heated up with several riders involved. Granado and Massimo Roccoli (Ongetta SIC58 Squadra Corse) passed Spinelli and Zaccone to take third and fourth, respectively.
On the final lap, Casadei attempted an attack on Zannoni, but the championship leader resisted to secure the victory. Granado had to fend off Roccoli until the end to secure the final spot on the podium. Zaccone lost fifth place to Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward) on the final lap.
