José Antonio Rueda was the fastest in the Moto3 Qatar GP Practice, held this Friday in Losail… with KTM bikes showing supremacy.
In the early stages, the lead belonged to Joel Kelso (LevelUp-MTA/KTM), but as lap times improved after the first ten minutes, it was Ryusei Yamanaka who set the pace.
The Japanese rider from Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi stayed at the top for almost the entire session, but with nearly 30 minutes gone, Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) clocked the best time, which stood: 2m03.277s.
Yamanaka didn’t improve his mark until the end, finishing second at 0.244s behind, while Ángel Piqueras (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) ended up third, 0.314s off the top. Dennis Foggia (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar/KTM) and Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) completed the top five.
The Practice session also served to determine the 14 riders who will go straight into the second phase of tomorrow’s qualifying. The group was closed by Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) in 14th, edging out Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) by 0.029s. Leopard Racing saw both of its riders relegated to Q1, with Adrián Fernández in 16th and David Almansa in 18th.
