Jorge Martín finished third in the MotoGP Japan GP practice session at Motegi, just 0.132s behind leader Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). The pace was good, and the speed was too. However, the Prima Pramac rider was far from having the best sensations on his Ducati Desmosedici GP24.
The Spaniard revealed that he had issues, particularly with the front end of the bike, which did not allow him to feel confident, acknowledging the need for improvement:
– It was a strange feeling. I was quite happy during the first run, but then I started having issues with the bike, I was not having the best feeling. So, I think we still have a lot of margin to improve, at least the front. Even if the pace wasn’t bad, I’m not really confident with the bike, so hopefully I can make a step for Sunday. I’m one of the fastest for sure, but I want to have a better feeling.
Pressed to explain the difficulties he felt, Martín said: ‘I’m locking up the front a lot, then when I go in I start to lose a lot the front, so it will be really difficult to make 24 laps like this. I think I need to improve the feeling quite a lot, and then everything will come much easier’.
