Jorge Martín may not have won the MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix, but he managed to recover from starting 11th on the grid to finish in second place, minimizing the points lost to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in the championship.
Gino Borsoi, team manager of Prima Pramac, praised his rider’s performance, telling AS newspaper that it was a demonstration of mental strength: ‘Jorge showed that he has incredible mental strength. This race felt like a victory to me, in which he showed he could recover from a weekend that seemed quite complicated’.
With four races remaining, Martín holds a ten-point lead over Bagnaia in the World Championship. Borsoi believes that what happened in Motegi could be a positive boost for the Spaniard:
– Jorge is getting stronger mentally, and this result and the way he approached the race will help him for the rest of the season, for sure. This was the best second place of the entire year. I would even say it was one of the best races since I’ve been with him.
