Following an exciting Sprint in Thailand, rider Jorge Martín spoke about the frenetic pace and the challenges faced throughout the race, with the rider himself commenting on exceeding track limits.
In statements to DAZN and quoted by Motosan, the Pramac Racing rider began by analyzing the day: ‘Today’s pace was crazy. I try to keep the times in the high 29s, but seeing 29.5 in the middle of the race, behind riders who usually complicate me, with the intense heat… I gave it my all, I saved nothing. Riding from sixth to second place was not easy at all’.
The Spanish rider detailed a crucial situation right on the first corner: ‘I braked late to overtake Enea [Bastianini], but he held his line and I saw that if he didn’t ease off, I could touch Pecco. So, I decided to go wide into the blue zone. I knew I would lose positions, but I didn’t want to risk a collision. Pedro [Acosta] was quite tough; then came Marc [Márquez], Enea, Pecco [Bagnaia]… all of them champions and very difficult to overtake. But our goal was to show our best version, and we managed to get second place’, he said with satisfaction.
The Spaniard also commented on the decisive role of track limits in the race, especially the risk of penalties for touching the green zone, something that caused a lot of controversy:
– I saw the first touch [on the green] when I was overtaking Pecco and then I went a little harder into the corner, being forced to go wide. After that, it was all very much on the limit, I kept myself up there, without touching. I knew the sensor could be triggered with the slightest touch, but when I saw that there was no flag, I was more relaxed.
And he concluded: ‘In the end, I wanted to secure the podium and I fought until the end. It was a difficult race, with very strong opponents – perhaps one of the toughest so far’.
