With the MotoGP world championship going well and with himself in good shape, Jorge Martín admits that both he and the management of Pramac Racing, and even the media, considered, equated and left the possibility in the air that Ducati would not allow him to fight for the title. However, the new world champion has made it clear that this has not happened, and that there has been continuous and total support.
The rider, who in 2025 will move up to a factory team, in this case in Aprilia colors, said that there was a general tension about the fact that he, Martín, was competing for the title against a factory rider and with precisely the same material, and to what extent there might be some kind of lack of support:
– Of course I was scared, Paolo [Campinoti] was scared, everyone was, the media was scared because everyone thought they [Ducati] were going to do something to make me lose the championship.
However, that didn’t turn out to be the case, as Ducati officials have repeatedly said, and that’s why Martín left a strong word of thanks to the manufacturer: ‘They didn’t do it and that’s why I take my hat off to Ducati, and I’m very grateful to them because they brought me to MotoGP and made me world champion, and that’s incredible’.
