Jorge Martín is definitely a more mature and calculating rider than we’ve seen in previous years, and proof of that was his approach to today’s race where in the end he decided not to take unnecessary risks “just” to try and win.
The Pramac Racing rider gained points on Pecco Bagnaia in the championship, and commented on his race today:
– It was a difficult race for sure. I had a strong pace but the feeling wasn’t the same as yesterday, the wind was very strong and I started losing the front. I couldn’t get a big gap and as soon as Pecco [Bagnaia] overtook me I said to myself: «Ok, I have to change the energy, push a little more» and I started to push and lap in the high 1:27s, 1:28s and 1:29s and then I knew that Marc was there.
The Spaniard showed himself to be measured and more moderate, thinking about the future: ‘I knew he was going to try in turn 4, he had nothing to lose. I tried again but it was a very big risk if I wanted to make a move. More points [against Pecco Bagnaia] and now we go to Thailand, a track that I also like’.
