Honda is one of the manufacturers currently in MotoGP falling behind in terms of competitiveness, and Joan Mir, team star who is heading into his third year with the team, had no problems stating that they need help.
The former world champion recalled in words to Crash that the RC213V has ‘incredible’ quality as a bike, but in terms of pure performance is ‘behind’, and didn’t hesitate to ask for ‘help’.
And he even explained, going further, where this help could come from, suggesting that reinforcements from the competition might be the ‘key’: ‘We need help from European people. Italians, Spanish who work for European manufacturers’.
The news that sometimes arrives of reinforcements coming precisely from other teams has encouraged Mir: ‘So all the news we have, when someone is coming [to Honda], as a rider it’s always a relief. Because it means they are doing what I think is the way’.
Still, a ‘mix’ seems to be ideal, he considered: ‘We need the Japanese, we need the Europeans, we need that mix. This is what will be our strength’.
