Jo Shimoda started the AMA Supercross 250 season in the best way possible, with a dominant victory this Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
In heat 1, Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) was stronger than his teammate Cole Davis by 6.370 seconds, while Shimoda (Honda HRC Progressive) only managed fourth. In heat 2, Julien Beaumer (Red Bull KTM) beat Jordon Smith (Triumph Racing).
Garrett Marchbanks (Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki) took the holeshot in the main race, but by the end of the first lap, Shimoda had taken the lead and never let it go.
The Japanese rider was constantly pursued by Beaumer, who ultimately could not match his pace. Shimoda won with a margin of 4.747s, with Smith finishing third at 11.599s. Ryder DiFrancesco (Rockstar Energy GasGas) and Deegan completed the top five. After securing the holeshot, Marchbanks couldn’t stay in the fight for the top positions and finished ninth.
