One of the main highlights of the MotoGP Malaysian GP will be Andrea Iannone’s return to the grid. After making his comeback to competitive racing this season in the World Superbike Championship, he now has the chance to be back in the premier class starting lineup.
Jorge Martín, currently the championship leader, shared his perspective on «The Maniac’s» participation during a press conference:
– For me, it’s good to see him back on a MotoGP. I think after what he went through, then he went to Superbikes and he won a race. So, he’s demonstrating that he is still on a good level. Also, I remember that in World Ducati Week he was a second faster than me. So, maybe he’s still fast, and let’s see if he is able to ride. But I think it’s a good opportunity for him to show people that he’s still strong.
Iannone will race the Malaysian GP for Pertamina Enduro VR46, filling in for the injured Fabio Di Giannantonio. He’ll be riding a Ducati Desmosedici GP23, one of the most competitive bikes on the grid.
