Pedro Acosta finished the first day of the MotoGP Thai GP with plenty of reasons to be satisfied. Besides being the third fastest in Practice, he felt good on track with the KTM RC16.
The Red Bull KTM rider even considers it one of the best Fridays since making his debut in the premier class last year:
– It was a good Friday – maybe the best one that I had since I’m a MotoGP rider. It was a long morning, trying to understand the tyres. The afternoon was quite good, trying to pick the pace, and I had good time attacks – that was my weak point last year.
The Sprint race isn’t worrying Acosta, unlike the main race, as he explained: ‘I’m not really caring about the Sprint, because the Sprint is 13 laps, not much fuel, and flat out from the beginning to the end. The race is going to be tough. The temperature is not super high as it was in testing, but it’s hot out there. It’s 26 laps, long straights, long brakings, it won’t be an easy race to manage the tyres. For this, we were understanding the direction – there isn’t much difference between the soft and the medium, but we are going to suffer for sure’.
