Lorenzo Santolino ended Daniel Sanders’ “reign” for the time being in the 2025 Dakar by being the first to beat the KTM rider, winning the third stage. Happy with what he had done, Santolino was a happy man.
Speaking after crossing the finish line, the Sherco Rally Spaniard analyzed his day this way: ‘I’m very happy. It was an almost perfect stage for me. I attacked the rocks at the start to catch Pablo [Quintanilla] before we reached a fast plateau in an area with more technical navigation where we rode together, with a lot of navigation’.
The #5 wasn’t afraid to attack and even took ‘a few risks’ as he put it, ending the day feeling good:
– I took a few risks from time to time, I think I had a good pace and no major faults. I stayed focused the whole time and attacked ahead of him in the last hundred kilometers. I felt good on the bike, it was a good stage.
