“Something electrifying,” says Ronnie Renner in the opening of a video posted on his social media accounts, where he is seen riding a motorcycle he has never seen before: an electric CFMOTO motocross bike. Ronnie is a former freestyler known for his records and his career in motocross, and at least for now, he is the first to give us direct news about an electric motocross bike manufactured by the Chinese manufacturer.
Without data, only dynamic images that suggest future technical – and market – information about the new CFMOTO. What we know for sure is that the bike was created in collaboration with the American research and development department of the Chinese manufacturer, which usually deals with CFMOTO ATVs, which are bestsellers and are obviously mainly used off-road.
The layout of the bike seems to be conventional: from the photograph taken from the video and seen at the beginning, it is clear that the intention was to concentrate the masses where we normally find the internal combustion engine, while we do not see the rear brake pedal on the prototype, which – but this is all to be confirmed – should be operated by the lever on the left of the handlebar (unlike the competition-oriented Honda CR Electric, which retains the rear brake pedal), and the left pedal is also absent, indicating the absence of a gearbox. It is difficult to be precise, but we cannot distinguish a radiator, so we assume the absence of liquid cooling for the batteries or the motor.
What to expect? We don’t know if the CFMOTO electric all-terrain motorcycle will be presented at EICMA, but we are willing to bet that we will hear about it soon, initially in the USA, but certainly with rapid developments also in Europe.
