Fabio Di Giannantonio finished the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix in tenth place, but it wasn’t a particularly satisfying outcome – especially after the results he showed he was capable of achieving in the latter part of 2023.
The rider from Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team stated after the Portimão round that he is still going through a phase of mutual adaptation with the team, despite the positive signs shown during testing:
– For sure in testing we’ve been amazing because we had plenty of time to work together with the team and to really have the bike like a second skin, to build the bike around me. But we are working together for three months, so they still have to understand 100% what I need and also me – I still have to give my maximum to them, let’s say.
That said, Di Giannantonio considers the start to be positive and expressed confidence in achieving better results soon: ‘Overall, with all the issues we had until now, we did an OK job. Last year, at the beginning of the year, we were celebrating like hell a top ten finish. So I think we are in a good way and I’m also sure that our bright days will come soon’.
After two Grand Prix races, Di Giannantonio is in tenth position in the championship, with a seventh and a tenth-place finish. He is three positions ahead of teammate Marco Bezzecchi and has three more points.
