Álex Rins’ participation in the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix Sprint race was short-lived. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider crashed in the second lap, preventing him from fighting for a good result despite having good sensations on the bike.
The #42 stated that he couldn’t explain the incident: ‘Honestly I don’t know. I didn’t get any warning during the weekend in that corner. We were checking data and I didn’t something strange – I didn’t brake five or ten meters later, it was the same line. So for sure I will go back to analyze, because we stil don’t understand what happened exactly’.
Rins then said: ‘We did a great start. For sure it was a big shame that our Sprint race ended in the second lap. But we are working, I’m doing great, so let’s see what we are able to do in the main race’.
After the misfortune in yesterday’s race, the Spaniard believes in his performance and chances to fight for the top ten this Sunday: ‘I’m quite optimistic for the main race. I’m doing a great job this weekend. The start [in the Sprint race] was nice, I recovered some positions. So I’m feeling quite optimistic to at least try to reach the top ten’.
