This year, Marc Márquez joined Gresini in MotoGP and is finally able to ride a Ducati, although it is last year’s version of the bike. In 2025, he will be teammates with Francesco Bagnaia on the factory team, with the same equipment and support.
The Italian rider was asked by MOW Mag whether he is faster or slower than the Spaniard, to which he replied: ‘I’m faster than Marc now. Later, we’ll see, for sure the expectations people had of him were very different. We work quietly, we are silent, and… the track speaks. Because I’ve never had the habit of making judgments before seeing the work. It was said that Marc would have won with the Ducati, now it’s said that he doesn’t have the same bike. We’ll see next year’.
In recent years, Bagnaia has consistently been stronger than Márquez, but this year they had a direct battle where both ended up crashing – in the Portuguese GP. The two-time MotoGP world champion commented:
– In my opinion, braking very hard makes it very difficult to overtake. So, if someone wants to pass me, they tend to go wide, and I cut through; that’s more or less the dynamic. There will come a time when we will have a fight like in Aragon 2021 or Jerez 2024. However, I have to say I had more in Jerez when I arrived knowing I could attack to escape again. In Aragon, on the other hand, he had a bit more. The Ayrton Senna approach… I want to win. I don’t care about the rest. There’s no way to be satisfied with finishing second without trying first. And I will always do my best to get as far ahead as possible, whether it’s fighting for tenth place or for a win.
