Francesco Bagnaia is currently in his best period of the MotoGP season, achieving two consecutive victories for the first time since September 2022. As a result, he has significantly closed the gap to the championship leader, who remains Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).
In the post-race press conference after the Mugello round, the Ducati rider emphasized the importance of consistency: ‘For sure Barcelona last year was already good for me. It’s important to be consistent, to have the same consistency in terms of work, in terms of results’.
Next up is the Dutch GP, for which Bagnaia doesn’t expect an easy ride: ‘Assen is always great for me, but I remember well that Jorge last year was like 0.3s/0.4s faster each lap in the last six laps of the race, so it will be tricky. But I think our bike this year can help us a bit in Assen. It’s a bit more helpful on braking, a bit less stable on the fast corners’.
For the 2022 and 2023 champion, continuing the current positive trend is essential: ‘I think it will be good and I will try to keep this momentum in the best way possible, because it’s important for the championship, but also for me and for the team because I know our potential, I know how good we are. Honestly the crash in the Barcelona Sprint was a disaster for me, for my mindset, so I will keep it on my mind to try not to do the same mistake again and try to continue like this’.
