Pol Espargaro has «agreed» to be relegated to the role of test rider for KTM as Pedro Acosta will take his place in MotoGP next season. With a contract until the end of next season, the rider still has the desire to race full time, and believes he has the speed to do it. Not sure about what is coming, to see KTM winning the world title is still a goal… that can have a bittersweet taste.
The GASGAS rider confessed to DAZN that he isn’t sure about to do regarding his future prior to 2024 – when his contract with KTM ends – but assured he has ‘other options’ on his career, hinting he considers to race outside of MotoGP: ‘If I commit myself to this factory, they will have options in 2025. I have other options, not MotoGP, but to go to other places to race’.
If he gots to stay, one of the reasons for it is the RC16, a bike he started KTM’s MotoGP project with, but in case they get to win the world championship, that would give him… mixed feelings: ‘If I decide to stay it’s to see this bike that I saw born win a world title, and it will give me the same pleasure as anger’.
Currently with GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3, Pol Espargaro still has three more GPs until the end of season, starting now at Malaysia, before going to Qatar and end in Valencia as usual.
