Álex Márquez is set to ride for Gresini in MotoGP for a second consecutive season. In 2023, he returned to podiums and even won a Sprint race. Now adapted to the team and Ducati, he wants to keep progressing and, although not setting objectives at this stage, believes that sooner or later he can win a Grand Prix.
Quoted by the newspaper Marca at a sponsor’s event, the Spanish rider mentioned that he is ready and excited to start the 2024 season, hoping for a strong start: ‘We must continue with the evolution. The goal I set for myself is to start in the best way possible. But that’s what all the MotoGP riders want. Starting on the right foot makes everything much smoother. I’m prepared for anything. I’m really looking forward to the preseason and the Malaysia test. We ended last year very well, and it’s important to start well. It’s about creating a good foundation’.
For now, Márquez doesn’t establish specific goals in terms of results, as he explained: ‘Now isn’t the time to generate expectations. It’s too early, it’s much more sensible to remain discreet. My initial goal is to improve regularity and be more solid. And there will be time, if things go well, to aspire to very good things’.
In any case, the #73 rider believes that winning a main race might be within his reach: ‘Winning races and achieving podiums is the result of good work. Last year had a bit of everything. If I continue working as I have been, I believe that the win on Sunday will come. I came close to victory in Malaysia, but it slipped away from me at the last moment’.
