Jorge Martín secured second place in the MotoGP Aragon GP and reinforced his championship lead, especially since his main rival, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), did not finish. At MotorLand Aragón, the Prima Pramac rider was only beaten by Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati).
In a press conference, the #89 revealed that he had a scare at the start of the race: ‘It was a bit of an eventful race, because I started quite bad – I started spinning like in Qatar last season. So then I was scared because I said: «OK, maybe my rear tyre is not working anymore»’.
Regarding his overtake on Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) to move into second place, Martín explained: ‘Then I could pass Álex [Márquez] quite fast, and when I overtook Pedro maybe it wasn’t the best place, but I saw he went wide at turn 7, so I said: «Maybe I will try». But then I locked the front, and luckly no one crashed. I went on the orange. And then my bike was quite fast on the straight and I could overtake him quickly’.
Once in second place, the Spaniard chose to manage his race carefully, as he mentioned: ‘Then, I tried to manage the tyre and be focused on the feeling, but it was a really difficult race’.
