Joan Mir did not finish the race at the MotoGP Malaysia GP, having suffered a fall on the fifth lap. It was a bitter end to a round that was far from positive.
The Repsol Honda rider emphasized that he had a considerably better pace during the race compared to qualifying, but his starting position compromised everything:
– With everything together in the race, I was able to to go a bit, overtaking the riders ahead. The riders that in the qualifying were able to be in a better position than me, then in the race I had a better pace. But starting from that position is not easy to overtake, it’s super tough in the back, because of the high temperature.
Regarding the heat in particular, Mir commented: ‘I was behind of Aleix [Espargaró] for ten laps and I was boiling. Because when you are behind somebody, you get a lot of temperature, so you have to manage quite well’.
