Franco Morbidelli hasn’t had the best of luck in recent years with Monster Energy Yamaha, but he has been the MotoGP vice-world champion. Now, he is heading to Prima Pramac, which believes the rider can reach a higher level in the 2024 season.
Team manager Gino Borsoi told MOW Mag: ‘I still have to get to know Franco Morbidelli; undoubtedly, we will have to help him in everything. He is a great rider, has a lot of talent. What he has brought home in these years is not what I believe he deserves; he can do much more, and what I want is to try to show everyone that he is a fast rider, that he can win races. At the moment, it’s challenging to think about the championship with Franco Morbidelli; he also has to adapt to the team and the bike. With Jorge Martín, on the contrary, we cannot make mistakes because if he doesn’t win this year, he could do it next year’.
After leaving Yamaha, Morbidelli will replace Johann Zarco – hired by LCR Honda – and will be Martín’s teammate at Prima Pramac.
Borsoi also commented on Marc Márquez’s entry into Gresini and the Ducati «world»: ‘Marc Márquez will be very painful. Let’s say he will become a big problem for everyone. Only those who don’t understand motorcycles wouldn’t have hired him’.
