Johann Zarco returns to LCR Honda in MotoGP in 2024, now for a full season after competing for Lucio Cecchinello’s team in the last three rounds of the 2019 season. For that, he left Pramac where he had one of the strongest bikes of the field, opting for a Honda RC213V in a development phase after a drop of performance and competitiveness in recent years.
Asked how he got the confidence to embrace the challenge with LCR Honda, the Frenchman replied: ‘It’s coming from the experience that I got on all the bikes previously. Last year I also understood that I can enjoy even in difficult times. I began 2024 in a good way with Honda and it seems Honda did a lot of changes, so I’m ready to enjoy’.
Regarding his goals, Zarco didn’t hide his motivation, but setting modest targets: ‘I want to race to stay on the top, to have the chance, the opportunity, at least feel that I can fight for a podium or even more if the opportunity is coming. And with the new bike I have this stimulation, this motivation, this feeling that is possible even more. I cannot say a really clear target in terms of position. I’m used to be quite constant. So maybe to bring back Honda at the top ten in the world championship at least’.
