Jorge Martín is clearly a different rider, more mature, and today he proved it again by finishing second in the long race of the Thai Grand Prix, opting during the race to score some more important points and not go all out for the win. The level, he says, between him and Pecco Bagnaia, has been super high.
In parc fermé, the championship leader started by commenting on the race: ‘The level we are demonstrating, I don’t think everyone can understand how fast we are going, even in these conditions. Today’s race was tough, I started very well but I was taking too many risks and I went wide at turn 3, and after that I tried to stay close to Marc [Márquez] and Pecco [Bagnaia]’.
The Spaniard from Pramac Racing once again showed great lucidity: ‘I had many moments that were very poor, I was having a lot of difficulties and then when Marc crashed I was still trying to catch Pecco but I saw that I was too much on the limit and then I told myself it was time to finish second once again and let Pecco win. I was controlling the gap to Jack [Miller] and the riders behind, but I’m very happy. Second yesterday, second today’.
And he left a word for the local fans: ‘Thank you very much to the Thai fans because they are incredible and I hope that next time I can do better’.
