This year, Marc Márquez joins Gresini in MotoGP with just a one-year contract. He will ride a Ducati, and while he isn’t directly linked to the manufacturer, there have been rumors about Ducati’s desire (or lack thereof) to have him on one of their bikes.
According to Marca, during a sponsor event, the six-time premier class world champion was asked if he felt any reluctance from Ducati in having him on a satellite team. Márquez denied this, stating:
– I never had the feeling that they were reluctant to hire me or didn’t want me because otherwise, I wouldn’t have taken the step of going with them. One of the things is that I always try to escape from the headlines that the media publishes. I have always been very supported by Gresini, who gave me my time, and that was the main reason that led me to take the step to join the ranks of Gresini because they didn’t pressure me until it was clear in my head.
