Toprak Razgatlioglu remains unbeatable in the World Superbike Championship. On Saturday in Portimão, the ROKiT BMW rider won the first race of the weekend. The race started quietly for him, as he trailed Alex Lowes (Kawasaki) and Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team/Ducati) in the first half before taking control in the final ten laps.
In an interview with the official broadcast, the Turkish rider admitted that it hasn’t been an easy round in the south of Portugal, both due to the competition and the heat. He expressed satisfaction with his performance:
– I’m really happy. At the beginning of the race we were fighting with Petrucci, but after that in the last eight or nine laps I was just trying my best. Every lap I was pushing for a good lap time. We won again, I’m really happy. It hasn’t been an easy weekend, because everyone is pushing harder, also because the very hot conditions. Anyway, we did a very good job.
The record for consecutive wins is now just one away, as Razgatlioglu pointed out: ‘I need one more win for the new record. We will see tomorrow’.
