Pedro Acosta once again performed well in the Sprint race at the Portuguese MotoGP, finishing in seventh position. However, the rookie was least pleased with his start, which made a significant difference in the outcome.
The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider stated: ‘If you see, I lost a lot of time in the first lap – 2.5s from the first. And then I was five seconds from Maverick [Viñales, the winner]. For this, now I lost less time during the race than in Qatar if we take out the first lap. We need to be more focused on the start’.
For tomorrow, Acosta will try another setting for the clutch, admitting that he does ‘something strange with the clutch’. And he emphasized: ‘We need time. Also if you see sometimes we need to change the handlebars, sometimes we need to change some levers of the brakes and these things because we need more time on the bike, we need more laps, we need be fitter on the bike at the end of the day. We are on the way’.
