Jorge Martín may not have won the Malaysian MotoGP GP, but thanks largely to the Sprint race results, he gained seven points over Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) compared to his previous lead.
Heading into the final round, the Spaniard leads the championship by 24 points ahead of his rival – a crucial advantage that brings him very close to the title, making it possible that he might not even need the last main race of the year.
In a press conference, Martín didn’t hide his belief that he is closer to becoming champion but stressed that nothing is over and he must stay focused on the work ahead:
– I’m happy that we gained seven more points in this round. I feel a bit closer to the final target, but it’s not over until it’s over. So, I need to be super focused, and for sure I believe until the end.
