Jorge Martín was the big winner of the Sprint race in Japan. The Spanish rider is in impressive form and is getting closer and closer to the championship lead. There are now 13 points separating the Prima Pramac Racing rider from the championship leader, Francesco Bagnaia of the Ducati Lenovo Team.
Asked about the Sprint race. Jorge replied: “It was a great day, I was confident that I could have a great pace, even though in FP2 I had doubts about the tires. Brad pushed me to the limit today, but when I dropped back a bit he dropped back too. I was able to keep my lead, but it will definitely be interesting tomorrow. I’m happy with today’s win. I think the key to success is that the bike is already ready for the circuit, I only have to change small things and as I already know the bike better I can adapt very quickly to the bike and the circuit and I can already see where the limit is. I have to keep my mentality, I keep saying, I don’t have the responsibility of being champion, I want to win, but the one who has the responsibility is Pecco who is in the factory team. Of course I want to win, but it’s not my responsibility to be champion.
Jorge Martín spoke about where he could possibly make a difference in tomorrow’s race, which promises to be very competitive.
– ‘ Maybe on the braking because Pecco has had some difficulties in the last few races, but it’s hard to know, there are milliseconds between us. Sometimes I was faster in acceleration and he was faster in braking, today Binder was also very strong in braking but I managed to brake even later, but I don’t know, let’s see how we start tomorrow’.
