Marc Márquez was close to his first victory with Gresini and Ducati’s bike. In the Spanish GP, he finished second, fighting until the end with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), but unable to beat his opponent.
During the press conference, the eight-time world champion was asked whether the Italian was better in this race or if he still lacks something. Márquez argued that, in terms of pace, he was at the same level as the winner.
– I just missed those first five laps. I had a good start, but I was too cautious, especially in the last corner on the first lap. I didn’t go wide, but I looked a bit outside and then the bikes went there and I slowed down a lot. But I don’t feel like I was slower than him. We had a similar pace, but it’s easier when you’re in front.
Márquez added: ‘With Honda, I was much better behind someone, with this bike I am better when I am alone. This is something I also like, and let’s see in the next races‘.
