After two rounds missing a direct spot in the Q2, Francesco Bagnaia grabbed a place in the second qualifying of the MotoGP Thai GP. The Italian rider from Ducati was seventh in the practice in Buriram, 0.208s behind the leader Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati).
The reigning champion didn’t hide his happiness for going directly into the Q2 and above all with his feelings on the bike: ‘Finally. But it’s not just this, but also for the feeling. I can brake hard and this is so, so nice. I was missing this feeling of braking hard on the front and the bike following me. So, I’m very happy’.
Bagnaia also talked about the evolution of his feelings during the afternoon practice: ‘Unfortunately I didn’t have the same feeling of the morning in the first part of the practice. My feeling with the rear tyre was not the best with the first medium and on the right side I was having some issues with the grip. But as soon as we put another medium for the first time attack I felt great again, everything went perfectly. And in the second attempt, unfortunately due to Jorge’s [Martín] yellow flag I didn’t have the chance of a second lap time. But I already was in 1m29s and I’m very happy for today’.
