Marc Márquez joined Gresini’s team in MotoGP this season. The arrival of a rider of this caliber could have meant a radical change, but that wasn’t the intention of the team led by Nadia Padovani.
Carlo Merlini, Gresini’s commercial director, explained to SPEEDWEEK.com that the goal was to maintain the identity and sponsors that were already part of the project, while adding new ones:
– We didn’t want to lose our identity. We didn’t want to make a radical change just because Marc joined us. If he leaves… our main concern, our focus, was to keep the existing sponsors and some more joined the family. Overall, we are happy with the sponsors we have. From a financial point of view, the team is very, very well secured.
