Marc Márquez entered the Ducati “universe” through the Gresini satellite team in the 2024 MotoGP season. Now, he’s seen as a candidate for the factory team next year, and Danilo Petrucci doubts that Ducati Corse’s general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, will let the Spanish rider go easily.
The current rider in the Superbike World Championship told GPOne.com: ‘I don’t have internal information, but I have a hunch about what will happen with Márquez. I don’t know if there are issues related to energy drink sponsorship, but from what I understand – something I would regret for Enea [Bastianini] – Gigi Dall’Igna won’t let a rider like Márquez slip away. He led Ducati to victory because he’s relentless in his reasoning method, in the sense that he’s relentless in pursuing his goal’.
Petrucci believes that Dall’Igna is interested in seeing Márquez’s potential on the bike he designed, and regarding a possible move to the official team, he thinks the aspect of the relationship with Francesco Bagnaia will have to be considered:
– Knowing his way of thinking, I think Gigi wants to understand what a rider like Márquez can do on his bike. Pecco is experiencing an incredible moment and has always made a difference in crucial moments, but I don’t know if he would be satisfied if Marc came. Perhaps this aspect should also be evaluated here. The human side of the garage. Then there can be two great champions, each doing their own task.
