During the Japanese GP, Aprilia announced Fabiano Sterlacchini as their new technical director in MotoGP, replacing Romano Albesiano, who will be moving to Repsol Honda.
When asked to comment on the matter, Ducati Corse general manager, Gigi Dall’Igna (who knows Sterlacchini well after the time he spent in Ducati) told La Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘Honestly, I don’t think he was Aprilia’s first choice. We will see’.
It’s worth noting that the 2025 season will bring significant changes for Aprilia. Along with the new technical director, the factory team will also feature two new riders: Jorge Martín and Marco Bezzecchi.
This marks the beginning of a new era for the Noale manufacturer, as they aim to truly compete for the title. While the newcomers will need time to adapt to new systems and methodologies, these changes are always made with the intention of having a positive impact.
