Franco Morbidelli is already on his way to Losail for the MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix. The Prima Pramac rider was unable to participate in testing due to injury, but his doctors have now authorized him to compete in the season’s opening round.
According to the championship’s official website, the Italian underwent an MRI last Saturday, with results deemed ‘favorable’. Morbidelli now requires approval from the championship’s medical staff in tomorrow’s exams.
The rider told the MotoGP website: ‘I’m very pleased to have received the medical clearance to start the season. I am eager to try the bike, to return to the dynamics of the races, and to get to know the people of my new team better. This year represents a significant change in my career, and although this incident was unfortunate, it is now in the past, and I want to look forward. I thank the doctors who have been monitoring me, the people who have supported me during these weeks, and a special thanks to Prima Pramac Racing for their support’.
It is worth noting that Morbidelli suffered a blood clot in his head following a serious crash while training at the Autódromo Internacional de Portimão with a production bike at the end of January.
