Francesco Bagnaia led the second free practice session of the MotoGP Italian Grand Prix. This session was primarily focused on bike setup rather than lap times, so the standings may not fully reflect the potential performance.
At the start of the session, the official Ducati team showed strong performance with Francesco Bagnaia in first and Enea Bastianini in second. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) had his first flying lap canceled.
However, this situation didn’t last long. On the second flying laps, Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) moved to the top, followed by Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) in second, and Bagnaia in third.
Quartararo then moved up to second place, while Álex Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) reached second. Bastianini improved to re-enter the top five in fourth, and Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati) positioned himself in fifth.
With about 20 minutes remaining, Morbidelli briefly took the lead before being overtaken by Marc Márquez, who was then surpassed by Bagnaia. Subsequently, Bastianini moved up to third.
By the end of the session, Bagnaia kept his lead with a 0.339s advantage over Marc Márquez, while Morbidelli overtook Bastianini to secure third. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) completed the top five ahead of Maverick Viñales (Aprilia). Championship leader Jorge Martín finished in 15th place, 0.941s off the top.
