Francesco Bagnaia is aiming for his third consecutive MotoGP title this year. The preseason tests were encouraging, leading both in Sepang and in Losail. Mattia Pasini sees the Ducati rider in good form, as well as the bike.
In an interview with MOW Mag, the rider who made his name in Moto2 said: ‘We always try to find an antagonist for Pecco, but in my opinion, he is very good at silencing almost everyone. He showed great form in the tests, it seems that the Ducati GP24 has something extra because it seems they managed to combine the qualities of the GP22 with those of the GP23’.
Pasini then explained these qualities of the bikes produced in Borgo Panigale in recent years, arguing that the four riders who will have the Desmosedici GP24 will have an advantage: ‘Let’s say that the 2022 one was a bit better in the frame, especially on corner entry, while the 2023 one was a bit smoother on the rear tire, had a bit more traction – which sometimes bothers us too, we saw several crashes from Pecco happening also for this reason. But here, I think that this year whoever has the 2024 one will have an advantage. So, [Franco] Morbidelli, [Jorge] Martín, Bagnaia, and [Enea] Bastianini will often be at the front’.
