Francesco Bagnaia was the winner of the MotoGP Italian GP, thus achieving his second consecutive victory after also finishing on the top step of the podium in Barcelona.
This is a sequence of results that the Ducati rider hadn’t managed since September 2022 – almost two years (21 months) ago. At that time, he completed a sequence of five wins at the San Marino GP.
More recently, Bagnaia was the winner of the 2023 Valencia GP and started this year on top at the Qatar GP. However, despite being two wins in consecutive rounds, they were achieved in different seasons.
With three wins and a third place in the last four Grands Prix, the 2022 and 2023 champion seems to have definitively left behind the less positive period he had in the Portuguese and Americas GPs.
And this is already reflected in the championship standings: he is in second place, 18 points behind the leader Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), having gained 21 points on his rival during the Mugello weekend. Additionally, he increased his lead over third-place Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) from 2 to 17 points.
