Fabio Quartararo didn’t have the best race weekend in Valencia, in his farewell to the MotoGP world championship in 2023. The frenchman felt unwell for practically every day and was heavily medicated in order to be able to ride.
Analysing his day, the rider looked back on what happened this weekend, admitting that he never really felt physically well: ‘Yesterday morning I was already not feeling well, but it was ok with some medication. The point is that I’ve only had four hours of sleep over the last two days, which is why I look so tired. I was very sick this morning and I still am but we wanted to do our best in the race and that’s what we did’.
The Yamaha rider went further and even admitted that he doesn’t know how he was able to finish today’s race: ‘Even before the start of the race I wasn’t feeling well, I wasn’t concentrating and I didn’t expect to do a great race today. Now it’s time to rest. I still didn’t feel well this afternoon even after all the medication I took, and it was a shame because I think we had a great chance today. To be honest, I don’t even know how I finished the race’.
He concluded: ‘It’s been a very difficult year, full of experiences and I hope that next year will be much better, and that we can fight for much better results in 2024’.
