Yamaha has many problems to solve and today in the Sprint race they came back to the surface, with Fabio Quartararo explaining that he gave his best and that, in his view, the M1 was ‘completely’ at the limit today.
Speaking to the press, the rider talked again about the grip problems that have plagued him severely this year: ‘On the brakes. I mean, I used the front tire completely to the limit, and I think it’s in this aspect that I really try to make a difference, but we really only brake with the front, and the rear has no grip. Fortunately, with our bike, we have this point where I can really feel the limit at the front. I think we took the bike completely to the limit’.
Quartararo looked at the times and how, from his point of view, he can’t do more: ‘The limit was there. We did 1:29.4 in Q1 and 1:29.4 in Q2 – to be honest, there’s nothing more I can get out of the bike’.
And he already looks at the potential tire choice for tomorrow: ‘I think the hard front tire is good, it gives us confidence, but it doesn’t tell us exactly where we are at the limit [of the tire]’.
And he concluded, looking at the save he managed at the entrance of turn 5: ‘So, I really lost the front, and I managed to hold it with my knee and elbow. It’s not very common to do this with the Yamaha because normally [the front] gives up very quickly, but I managed to hold it in time’.
