As the MotoGP World Championship heads to Motegi for the Japanese Grand Prix, the title fight between Jorge Martín and Pecco Bagnaia remains fiercely contested, with just 21 points separating them. However, Gresini Racing’s Enea Bastianini doesn’t see himself as merely a spectator in this battle.
Quoted by ruetir.com during the race preview, Bastianini acknowledged his speed and the potential impact he and other competitors could have on the title fight: ‘I don’t know. It’s true that I’m fast, and probably both Marc Márquez and I will cause some trouble. There’s also Acosta who’s doing very well. So, yes, we can cause problems in the title fight, but it’s more difficult to get into it; however, I’m still playing for something and I want to continue doing so without thinking about anything else’ he stated.
The Italian rider, who has already demonstrated his talent in several races, emphasizes that despite the possibility of being a “referee” in the championship, the focus remains on his own performance and his ambitions.
Additionally, Bastianini acknowledged Bagnaia’s superiority at this stage of the championship, stating: ‘The numbers say that Pecco is the favorite, because at this point he has already won more world championships and is used to winning’.
With the Motegi race just around the corner, the atmosphere promises to be electric, and Bastianini could play a crucial role in determining the title, as he seeks to maximize his own performance while simultaneously interfering in the fight between the two main contenders, not forgetting that he himself is in the hunt.
