Emanuel Gyenes is leading the 2025 Dakar in the Original by Motul category. This is the class reserved for riders who compete without a support team, making them even more alone in this adventure.
The Romanian, a regular participant, won the prologue and initially led the overall standings until the second stage, when he was overtaken by Benjamin Melot (Esprit KTM) in the Chrono 48H.
The Frenchman remained at the top the following day, but a second-place finish in stage 4 was enough for Gyenes (Autonet Motorcycle Team/KTM) to regain the lead, which he strengthened yesterday, now 13m16s ahead of Melot. In the overall classification, Gyenes is in 27th place, 3h26m30s behind the leader, Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM).
In third place is Jérôme Martiny (Anquety Motorsport/Husqvarna), followed by Jaromir Romancik (Cajdašrot/KTM) and Mike Wiedemann (Wiedemann Motorsports/KTM) rounding out the top five. Besides Gyenes and Melot, stage winners in this category also include Wiedemann and Romancik, with the Czech rider winning twice.
