The MotoGP pre-season concluded with the second and final day of testing at Losail. Francesco Bagnaia set the pace with a record (unofficial) lap on the circuit hosting the Qatar GP, leading a Ducati one-two. It’s worth noting that all riders set their best times today.
It was during the night session and in the last two hours that many riders set their best laps. Bagnaia set the benchmark at 1m50.952s, becoming the first rider in history to lap below 1m50s at Losail. With this, he edged out his teammate Enea Bastianini by 0.120s.
Aprilia also performed well, with three riders among the top six. The best of them was Aleix Espargaró in third, 0.308s off the top, followed by Raúl Fernández (Trackhouse Racing) in fifth. Between them was Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati), with Maverick Viñales sixth on the other official Aprilia.
The vice-world champion, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), secured the seventh fastest time. Two places below is Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM), who was the best of the KTMs.
Fabio Quartararo was the best Yamaha rider in 14th, while Johann Zarco (LCR Honda) led among the RC213Vs in 17th. The Frenchman had a minor fall in the final minutes. On this last day of pre-season, the rider who accumulated the most kilometers was Augusto Fernández (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) with 83 laps.
