Jorge Martín once again ended up not being chosen to partner with Pecco Bagnaia in Ducati’s official MotoGP team, and after mentioning that he had a conversation with the manufacturer’s staff where he showed his dissatisfaction at being passed over again, the rider explained that nevertheless everything went well regarding other meetings about the Desmosedici, while he was happy to make history.
The then Pramac Racing rider explained to the championship’s official website that, despite the meeting about the topic of his non-hiring, everything went well between him and all the leaders: ‘The meetings with Gigi Dall’Igna and with the technical staff were the same, and even with [Claudio] Domenicalli we spoke at Sachsenring and I think we were very clear, I was very clear with them and they know what I thought.’
The whole situation ended up serving as extra motivation, it seems, for the rider to try to make history, as he himself mentioned:
– Then okay, I thought it was time to make history as being the first independent rider to win a MotoGP world championship. I made history and I’ll be remembered for that.
Martín ended up winning the championship with Pramac Racing, in his farewell to Ducati, as he will be moving to Aprilia Racing.
