After more than a decade with Honda, Marc Márquez will have a transition in 2024 that promises to mark this season’s MotoGP, and about the first impact he had with Ducati, he revealed some differences but didn’t forget his Honda RC213V, and how it is also very good in some details.
The Spaniard was asked if there was any aspect of the Desmosedici that surprised him on first contact, and he answered like this, during the team presentation: ‘It’s a different approach, a different way of approaching the lap time attack especially. I still have to understand that aspect, but I realised straight away, on the first exit and especially on the second and third, the way of attacking the corners is completely different. Then I realised a lot of things’.
He also made a point of praising his previous bike, and said that what was good about it, he couldn’t use in the same way with his new bike: ‘I need to say it, and I also said it at the time, the Honda also has very strong points in some parts of the corners, but you can’t use those strong points that I was used to, riding this way [with the Ducati], especially the corner exit, it was very good, very smooth, but I still have to learn how to use that extra power, and grip’.
