Ducati may have already made the difficult decision regarding who will be their other rider for the 2025 MotoGP season. The choice is reportedly Jorge Martín, the current World Championship leader competing for Prima Pramac.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the decision has been made following more intensive discussions in recent days with the rider’s manager, Albert Valera. The Italian GP was set as the deadline by Ducati, although the manufacturer guarantees that there will be no announcements in Mugello.
According to Motorsport.com, the agreement is likely to be signed only after the Italian GP, as there are still some details to be resolved – particularly concerning where other Ducati riders like Marc Márquez or Enea Bastianini will fit in.
For Martín, one option seems to be off the table – staying with Pramac. As for Bastianini, if he does not stay with Ducati, he may have options with Aprilia, but it does not seem to be the will of the Borgo Panigale manufacturer to lose his services.
In this afternoon’s press conference in Mugello, Martín was confronted with this alleged decision and dismissed the speculation: ‘Well, for sure the media and press are always speculating. So you always have to bear this information, but you have to deal with it. It’s part of the job, and my job is to ride. So I will try to be really focused. It’s a really important weekend for Ducati and for my team, so I will be 100% focused on that. And then on Monday and Tuesday we’ll have time to speak and let’s see what happens’.
