One of the significant changes in MotoGP for 2024 is the new concession system. Created to assist the Japanese manufacturers – Honda and Yamaha – who have faced many difficulties in recent seasons, it also aims to achieve a more balanced field in the long term by categorizing manufacturers into different tiers with varying concessions based on performance.
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, expressed satisfaction with the unanimous approval of the regulations, explaining to the Marca newspaper how Ducati ended up voting in favor:
– I like it; that’s the best. We could have approved it without having them all in favor, but we were trying until the end. Ducati accepted, didn’t like it, but we convinced them that it was convenient to do it for the good of the Championship. And then let them complain, it seems fine to me. It’s not that I think it’s wrong; I think it’s good.
