Jorge Martín finished in second place at the British MotoGP. The Prima Pramac Racing rider was unable to challenge the winner, Enea Bastianini (Ducati), but by finishing ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), he surpassed the Italian in the championship standings to take the lead.
The Spaniard said in a press conference that he was happy with the result: ‘Well, I think Sachenring wasn’t that disaster or here is the best day. We have to get a balance from all the season, I think we are doing an amazing job. For sure the summer break was not my best one, I wasn’t happy for sure. Doing a solid result like this one is fantastic, and second was the maximum’.
Regarding the approach he had to this race, Martín explained: ‘I tried to do a really intelligent race, I tried to manage a lot of different things. The pace was fast, I tried to win until the end, but then Enea was catching. I tried to be with him, but it was impossible to beat him; he was in another level today. Let’s try to improve some areas where I feel we need some confidence and hopefully it will be in Austria’.
The new championship leader also said: ‘I’m 100% focused on what I can control. I cannot control if somebody beats me; if I do my best, I do my best, today was second and hopefully in Austria will be a better result. But whatever it comes, it will be good. I’m trying to enjoy, enjoy the feeling, enjoy everything that happens on track’.
